various applications on IPOD Touch

Camcorders - Sony digital seems to be the best brand for use in ghost hunts, if you can get the camera with nightshot as most of your investigating will be in dark conditions and you will need to be able to see in the dark.  A camcorder with a light on it will work okay too.  A high definition camera can pick up well, but have not experimented with it in the dark.  If you plan on doing anything with your footage afterwards, it might be best to use a camcorder that has a built in dvd to avoid tape noise on playback.  Digital Cameras - These work best simply for ease of use because you can check your pics immediately and delete the ones you don't want.  35 mm camera - This camera works well with 800 speed film, we seem to be able to pick up motion with this or 400 speed.  EMF meter - Electro Magnetic Field Detector - There are a number of different types on the market, the ones we have found to be the best are meters that signal you with a beep to let you know if you have picked up a low frequency wave which for ghost hunters means that a ghost or spirit is in the path of the meter.  Digital recorders - These can be picked up at most electronic stores and are very good for picking up EVP's (Electromagnetic Voice Phenomenon) which are voices that can be heard from the other side.  Cassette recorders Same as digital, but not easy to plug into a computer for investigating afterwards.  Compass - This works similar to an EMF meter, when there is a fluctuation in the magnetic field, the compass will start moving around.  Flashlight - This is used in case of emergency or if you need to fix a camera, do  not have this on while filming or picture taking as it may interfere with the end result of footage or pictures because the light beams may get in the way.  Extra tapes and batteries - Needed in case of malfunction or if you run out, it is best to have them on you rather than have to run back to your home base.  Extension cords - These will be needed if you run out of battery power and have access to a plug in, you can plug your camcorder in and go off of that instead of batteries.  Two way radios - These are helpful if you are in groups and have to spread out, it is a good safety device to have with you so there is constant contact between ghost hunters.  First aid kit - This is very important, ghost hunters should check out the area they are investigating during the day to get a feel for where they will be going at night.  This is good to have on hand for cuts, scrapes or any other type of injury that may happen when wandering in the dark.

Mysterious Equipment Malfunctions

Another common occurrence on many of our investigations has been unexplained equipment malfunction. Cameras stop working, batteries run out that are not old. One particular instance of a malfunction was when our radio went off as if someone was trying to contact us. When we answered the call no one was there, we asked the other crew which held the other radio, they did not call us. Camcorders that for no reason shut off on their own in the middle of filming something.

More to be added soon.
